The ‘Poppy Squad’ - a small group of local volunteers, have once again supported Poynton Town Council staff in putting up Poynton’s poppies. Thank-You to all our awesome volunteers Recently Poynton Town Council and Poynton Town Mayor, said ‘Thank You’ to volunteers who registered as street champions helping neighbours during the lockdown and also to the helpers outside the vaccination centres. Tea and cake was enjoyed by all and everyone was given a mug and goodies to take home. This event was supported by Cheshire East. Read More...

Community Grants

The Town Council is delighted to announce it has recently awarded a Community Grant of £1,000 to ‘The Food Community’ at Poynton Baptist Church. The scheme aims to reduce poverty in Poynton by supporting individuals across the community who are living on a budget, by providing access to nutritious food, in a dignified way. Additionally, the food community have been awarded a further £1,500 from a Cheshire East Volunteer Fund, which is held by the Town Council. Read More...

The Town Council would like to congratulate the recipients of the 2021 Civic Service Awards, which were presented by the Town Mayor, Cllr Mr Lee Podmore, at the Civic Reception on Sunday 26th September 2021. Mental Health

Over 5,500 residents in our area have made contact with their GP about their poor mental health. At a recent meeting of Poynton community groups and services called ‘Poynton Together’, poor mental health was also raised as a concern. Volunteers from Poynton Area Community Partnership (PACP) have produced a contact sheet with details of local support services and organisations around mental health and other issues which affect mental health, such as social isolation, debt and money problems and domestic abuse.
