Poynton Platinum Jubilee Trail As part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, a platinum jubilee trail was developed by local resident Rosie Deverell of Rainbow Trails with Rosie. https://www.facebook.com/rainbowtrailswithrosie

The Town Council would like to thank Rosie who spent many days, night and weeks researching and collating information so that she could bring local people a fun, free and informative activity to enjoy over the Jubilee period.

We also thanks Men in Sheds for making the beautiful purple crowns.

Many Poynton residents, families, clubs and school children enjoyed the trail over a 6 week period, and many requested that the information on the purple crowns would be available after the trail finished. If you still need to collect your prizes, please visit the Civic Hall reception.

So, here it is for you to enjoy! https://www.poyntontowncouncil.gov.uk/Queens_Platinum_Jubilee_Trail_further_information_42122.aspx

Poynton Exhibition We also wish to thank the many residents that Rosie was in contact with who shared so many wonderful photos, documents and memories for use in the exhibition at the Civic Hall, and the trail too. The exhibition was very popular and always had a steady stream of visitors. When the special artefacts were on display and manned by volunteers Susan, Jean, Alan and Harold, people were queueing down the hallway to get in!

Jubilee Beacon Lighting Event, 2nd June
Poynton Round Table did the Town proud by organising a beacon lighting event at Poynton Pool. Jean, Poynton’s very own piper, Jean played Diu Regnare, a piece especially written for the Queen’s Jubilee. It was an amazing turn out by Poynton residents and was a fitting tribute to her Majesty’s 70-year reign and a great start to Poynton’s Jubilee celebrations.

Park Lane Jubilee Party
Despite the rain Park Lane was filled with red, white and blue bunting, Jubilee fun and cheer! Poynton is blessed with some talented musicians and performers who came together to celebrate in style. Special thanks to the Farmers Arms and Poynton Baptist Church who kindly accommodated performers because of the inclement weather.
The Scouts and the Girlguides provided children’s activities including a human fruit machine, splat the rat, street games - egg and spoon, bean bag races and hula hooping!
The Town Council would especially like to thank resident Mat Wynne and other volunteers who without their dedication, the event wouldn’t have happened and the businesses who opened for the day to support this wonderful community event.

Thank you to all other groups and volunteers for their Platinum Jubilee related contributions around the Town that helped make the celebrations wonderful for our residents.
