Message from Poynton Town Council

Published: 07 July 2025

The Town Council is deeply saddened by the loss of two young people in our community following the tragic incident at Poynton Station. Our thoughts are with their family, friends and all who knew them. Also, the train driver and the emergency services who responded to the incident.
We know as a community this is difficult to process, and that our young people in particular might be struggling to cope.
There are free counselling services run by Just Drop-In available at the Civic Hall. These are for young people aged between 14 – 25. You can self-refer on their website: www.justdropin.co.uk or call 01625 665 079.
Just Drop-In are also offering a free mental health first aid session this Saturday 12th July, aimed at parents and carers of young people aged 11 – 18. These sessions are in the Tram Shed at Hickory’s Smokehouse and aim to help build knowledge and confidence to support your child’s mental health. You can book your place by emailing: parenting@justdropin.co.uk
Samaritans are also here to talk, any time of day, no matter what you are going through. You can call them on 116 123 or contact them online here: https://www.samaritans.org/how-we-can.../contact-samaritan/
If you are unable to find the support you need, then please feel free to call in or ring the Civic Hall (01625 872 238) and we will do what we can to help you find a relevant service.
