The Finance and
General Purposes Committee meet quarterly to review the council’s finances. The
Committee is appointed to make recommendations to the Town Council on all
aspects of the Council’s financial and budgetary management. This includes the
preparation of the annual accounts and budget, review of risk management and
any recommendations arising from the internal and external audit. The Committee
ensures that the Town Council has an adequate and effective system of internal
controls in place to secure the integrity of the council’s finances.
In addition to it’s financial responsibilities the Committee also oversees more general matters including electoral matters, corporate management and administration, and the Town’s twinning arrangements.
