Council Community Support Team

The Town Council has a Community Support Team who assist the community of Poynton by:

  • Carrying out reassuring, high visual patrols in the area
  • Provide an ‘eyes and ears’ service aimed at reducing the fear of crime for residents and improving their quality of life
  • Deal with environmental crime issues, such as graffiti, littering, fly tipping and dog fouling
  • Reduce incidents of low level crime and anti-social behaviour, making referrals where necessary
  • Attend local schools and give educational advice to them on various topics including;
Road safety
Online safety/Cyber bullying
Hate crime
Anti-social behaviour and its knock on effects
Environmental crime
Countryside code
Bonfire/Halloween safety
Water safety
Stranger danger
  • Support the community by encouraging diversionary activities for young people
  • Escort children from local schools to various events /trips around Poynton
  • Support older members of the community by signposting them to activities and community groups, preventing social isolation and offering advice on subjects including scam awareness
  • Offer advice on crime prevention in the home
  • Work in partnership with other agencies to improve the area and community, making Poynton a safe place to live, work and visit
  • Act as professional witnesses

What we don’t do:
  • Community Support Officers are not a replacement for the Police
  • We are not an emergency service. Crime should be reported to the Police immediately on 101, if in an emergency 999
