Middlewood Way

Middlewood Way, Accessible at Higher Poynton and via Middlewood Railway Station, SK12 1TH

A former railway, the Middlewood Way is an 11 mile path, which follows the route of the former Macclesfield, Bollington and Marple line through pretty countryside.

The way is popular with nature lovers, walkers, cyclists and horse riders and, as it is mostly level, is suitable for wheelchair users.

It can be accessed at several points along it’s route (see below for trail leaflet) including Jackson's Brickworks and the recently refurbished Middlewood Station on the Stockport to Buxton line with Hazel Grove the nearest station to Poynton. Train times van be found on the National Rail website.

More information, details of activities, accessibility for wheelchair users, pushchairs and horse riders can be found here on the Cheshire East website and a trail leaflet with a map can be downloaded as a *PDF.
