Draft Town Strategy: Consultation Now Open

This important consultation starts today, and runs to 1st October 2012. We now have a large stock of the draft Town Strategy documents and questionnaires here at the Civic Hall, plus a box in which to post your completed questionnaire. These documents are also available from the library next door.

If you would prefer to complete the questionnaire on line please go to www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/localplan. There will be regular reminders throughout the consultation period, since we want as many of our residents as possible to give their views on the draft Strategy, which will help shape Poynton’s future through to 2030.

Men In Sheds for Poynton – Drop in Tomorrow

A drop-in event will take place at the Civic Hall tomorrow Saturday 1st September, from 10am to noon. The Town Council is interested to understand whether there is demand in Poynton for a ‘Men In Sheds’ facility and, if so, to get a feel for the types of activity that might be of interest.

Domestic garden sheds have long been seen as a haven for men to be themselves, and to do the things that interest them. The ‘Men In Sheds’ programme has been very successful in Macclesfield, and Terry Regan, the manager of that facility, will be at our drop in to share his experience with us. Please tell your friends and family – refreshments will be provided.

Ladies Day Tomorrow

This is taking place at the Poynton Community Centre tomorrow Saturday 1st September, from 10am to 4pm, with all manner of pampering for ladies, ranging from spray tans and manicures to cup cakes, tarot readings, facials and reflexology. Town Council Surgery Tomorrow

Clifford Road Narrowing

It is important to note that the road narrowing undertaken by Cheshire East Council near the junction of Clifford Road and London Road South is what is known as an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order. A decision will need to be made by Cheshire East Council in due course whether to make this a permanent feature.

Anyone with views for or against the scheme should make them known in writing before 1st December 2012.

Views and comments should be sent by e-mail to cheshireeasttraffic@cheshireeast.gov.uk. Alternatively send or hand in any letters to the Town Clerk (Poynton Civic Hall, off Park Lane, Poynton, SK12 1RB), and they will be forwarded to the relevant department at Cheshire East.

The Town Council will formally review its position on this issue at a council meeting at 8pm on Monday 17th September. Residents are welcome to attend.
