A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road – Poynton Exhibitions
The first phase of consultation on the A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road opened on 22nd October 2012, and continues to 25th January 2013. You can respond to the consultation online at www.semmms.info, by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, by post to: SEMMMS Project Team, Stockport Council, Stopford House, Stockport SK1 3YQ, or phone 0161 474 2055 for more information. You can also visit two exhibitions being held at Poynton Civic Hall concerning this consultation – they are on Saturday 3rd November, from 10am to 4pm, and on Monday 12th November, from 10am to 8pm.
“Top Dressing” around Fountain Place
As one of the final tasks of the current phase of the Revitalisation Scheme, several areas within Fountain Place and its approaches (the large areas of black asphalt) will be given a ‘top dressing’ of resin bonding material. This is a similar treatment to that used in the Nat West Car Park. Apart from making the whole of Fountain Place more pleasing to the eye, it will also help to demarcate more clearly the areas around the parking bays.
The work will take place during next week, starting Monday 29th October, subject to weather conditions. While some pedestrian controls are likely, and temporary bus stops introduced, the work plan does not envisage a need for traffic management. Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you have any queries or concerns about this please contact the Town Council’s Operations and Events Manager Richard Holland, T.01625 872238, key 2, or send an e-mail to email@example.com.

A reminder that this year’s Remembrance Day is Sunday 11th November. There will be the usual parade, accompanied by the VBS Poynton Brass Band, leaving the Civic Centre Car Park at 9.30am sharp, followed by the service and Act of Remembrance at St George’s Church starting at 10am. For all colour and wreath bearers there will be a rehearsal at St George’s at 7pm on Wednesday 7th November. Any further information can be had from the Clerk.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service
Cheshire Fire Authority is the publically accountable body, which manages the fire and rescue service on behalf of local people.
The Authority has now published its annual plan, the draft Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP), for 2013/14 and the years beyond, and a comprehensive 12 week consultation was launched on 24 September, which runs until 17th December 2012. This draft plan is the most significant in the Fire Authority’s 15 year history, as it sets out a number of far-reaching proposals, which have been developed so that it can maintain and improve the services it provides to the local community and make most effective use of its reduced funding.
The proposals would help the Service to meet expected budget cuts of around £5 million over the next four years, but will take a number of years to implement. You can access a summary of the plans, as well as supporting material and a full copy of the IRMP 2013-14 through visiting the website: www.cheshirefire.gov.uk/home/current-consultation. You can also complete a resident survey on the plans.
Equally, any written submissions on the proposals are welcome, and can be sent to; Communication and Engagement Officer, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Sadler Road, Winsford, Cheshire CW7 2FQ
Tel: 01606 868408
Or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Woodland on the Inclines
The Survey and Risk Assessment on the Inclines woodland, commissioned by the Town Council, has now been published, and can be accessed via the Town Council’s new website – go to “Your Council” and click on “Publications” from the drop down menu. This is an extensive and detailed report, and has a helpful Executive Summary at the beginning. A drop-in session for those residents whose houses border the Inclines will be arranged for a Saturday morning, probably in November, when the Town Council’s policy on the maintenance of Incline trees will be explained, and questions answered. As a general rule, the Town Council will not agree to carry out any ‘cosmetic’ treatment on the trees, most of which are protected, and any work it does undertake in terms of pruning or felling will be based largely on risk.
